Department Activity Report 2018-2019

Activities under taken during the Academic year 2018-2019 

1. Dr. Sajid Hundekar presented a research paper on “Tectonic plate movement in the North -Eastern part of Himalayacreate Catastrophic Earthquakes: A Case study of Nepal Earthquake” in an International Multidisciplinary Conferences on Economics, Commerce, Management, Social Science, Humanities, Engineering and Environmental Concernsin  AJANTA- An International Multi-disciplinary Quarterly Research Journal, Jun-18. ISSN 2277-5730.
2. A one day S.Y.B.Sc. Geology Excursion Tour 2018-2019 was conducted on Sunday 23^th December 2018 in and around Nighoj and Vadgaon Darya, Shirur Taluka. Dr. Sajid Hundekar (Tour Incharge) accompanied by the teaching staff Mr. Amarjit Singh, Mrs. Shaheen Shaikh ( Lab Assistant) and Mr. Gafoor Shaikh (Peon). Total number of students were 45 + 04 staff.
3. A Guest lecture cum interactive session and a field demo of Electrical Resistivity Survey for Groundwater potential testing for Geology Students was conducted on 25^th December 2018 in the Golibar Maidan, Camp, Pune. Ms. Suvarna Bharat Naikuji (Assistant Professor) Chatak Groundwater Exploration Agency delivered the lecture and conducted a practical session. Total number of students were benefitted are +75.
4.  Dr. Sajid Hundekar delivered a lecture on International Scholarship Seminar on the invitation of Mr. Matin Mujawar (President) Sufi Ismail's Deemed University. Shikshan Hakka Development, Research and Promotion Manch.(SHD&PM) on Sunday 30^th Dec 2108 in Poona College Conference Hall for SSC/HSC passed students along with their parents. Total attendance was +150. 
5. Department of Geology had organized a T.Y.B.Sc Geological Study Tour to Bhuj and other places in the Kutch region of Gujarat between 7^th January 2019 and 14^th January 2019) as a part fulfillment of the syllabus laid down by the Savitribai Phule Pune University. Mr. Irfan Shaikh, (Associate Professor) was the Tour-Incharge and was accompanied by  6 T.Y.B.Sc Geology students.
6.  Dr. Sajid Hundekar delivered a lecture on “Government/Foreign University Scholarships” conducted for third year engineering students of Sinhgad Institute of Technology, (SIT) Solapur for all engineering branches to create awareness about opportunities of higher education in foreign universities by getting scholarships on 12/01/2019.   
7. Dr. Sajid Hundekar delivered a lecture on “International Scholarships for Graduation and Post -Graduation” conducted for engineering students of Orchid Engineering College, Solapur for all engineering branches on 12/01/2019.
8. Dr. Sajid Hundekar delivered a lecture on Overseas Scholarship Program on the invitation of Noor Social Welfare and charitable Trust, Solapur with coordination Khadimen- e- Urdu Forum, Solapur on Sunday 13^thJanuary 2108 at Social College, Solapur for Muslim Minority students along with their parents. Total attendance was +100.
9.  Dr. Sajid Hundekar, Retired Associate NCC Officer, along with Poona College NCC Cadets, Cdt. Rajeev Upadhyay, Cdt.  Pratik Pande has received Yuwa Sanmaan samarambh award from the Savitribai Phule Pune University on 11^th Jan 2019. In the absence of Dr. Sajid Hundekar the award was received by Dr. Shakir Shaikh, NCC Care-taker Officer of Poona College, Pune.

In the above photo different lava flows can be seen along the cliffs of Kukdi River.

 

                         Potholes are being showed to the students in the river Kukdi.

A visit to the Stalagmite and stalactite deposits in the Velhabai Temple in Vadgaon Dharya area.
