Department Activity Report 2017-2018

Activities under taken during the First Term –Academic year 2017-2018

1)     Dr. Sajid Hundekar delivered a lecture for Geology students on 11th July 2017 at 10.00 am in the Department of Geology.  The topic of the talk was"International- Turkey Government Scholarship program". This lecture was attended by meritorious students along with their parents. 

2)      Mr. Abdulhafiz Sayyed, a Poona college alumnus, who got 100% Turkey Government scholarship) delivered a talk on "International Scholarship program" on 24th August 2017 at 9.00 am in the Conference Hall of Poona College,Pune. This was attended by 125 students along their parents. Dr. Sajid Hundekar had organized this programme. 

3)      Prof. Khalid Karajagi, Director of  ‘EduCAVE...Path to Success’, Pune, conducted an Industry-Academic Interaction session on "Importance of Latest technology Used in Field of Geosciences and Importance of Personality Development". This programme was held on 26th August 2017 at 11.00 am in the Department of Geology, which was attended by past and present T.Y. B. Sc. Geology students.

4)      A guest lecture by Prof. M A Mohammed Aslam, Department of Geology, Central University of Karnataka, was organized on 16th September 2017. He delivered an informative and thought provoking lecture on “Geology: Career Guidance, Counseling and Prospects” which was attended in large numbers by F.Y. B. Sc. Geology students.

5)      Dr. M.R.G Sayyed, Mr. K.F Karachiwala, Dr. Sajid Hundekar and Mr. Irfan Shaikh attended a seminar on “Enhancing Quality in Teaching Learning Process held on 9th August 2017 which was organized by IQAC, Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Camp, Pune.

6)      Following papers were presented and published by the staff of Geology department in the National Conference on Role of Youth in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, organized by Department of Sociology, Poona College on 3rd October 2017.

Activities under taken during the Academic year 2019-2020 Activity 1 -“Disaster Management in India” Certificate Course Report- 2019 The Department of Geology had organized a 30 hours certificate course on “ Disaster Management in India” and it was successfully conducted in the Geology Laboratory. Dr. Sajid Hundekar was the coordinator of the certificate course. Dr Sajid Hundekar along with Mr. Irfan Shaikh, Mr. Mohammad Ali Bangi and Mr. Amarjeet Bhagat had drafted the course for total 30 hrs. (Theory and Practicals).The team has successfully tied up with PMC Fire Brigade Station, Lohianagar, Pune and Dial 101 Emergency Ambulance service for their assistance in conducting theory and practical sessions. Both the organizations had sent their representatives to conduct the sessions in college premises and their premises in Lohianagar. Dates: 16 th July 2019 to 16 th August 2019 No. of Students Participated : FY, SY and TY B.Sc. (Geology)- 51 Beneficiaries
